Freddy retains title at Monaghan 10 & 5 Miler… Last Sunday saw athletic clubs from all around northern and southern Ireland descend on Monaghan Town to take part in the annual Monaghan 10 & 5 mile race. Lifford AC and many Derry clubs travelled en mass to Monaghan as well as clubs from Belfast, Newry, Omagh, Armagh, Dundalk, Dublin, Cavan as well as individual entrants from England , Wales, Germany and Australia. Online entry is now open for the 2015 Monaghan 10 & 5 Miler. The race starts at Coral Leisure Centre, Monaghan at 12.30 pm on Sunday 16th August 2015. Every participant will receive a commemorative pack and a medal. Refreshments will be available for all after the race and this year there will be prizes for both races. A fun and challenging day is ahead for those that wish to take part. “KEEP ‘ER FIT” 🙂
The year so far…….. Its been an eventful and exciting few months in MTR circles since the new year begun. We started the year with a new intake of beginners and our coaches Ray, Ann Marie, James and Cheryl were hard at work on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings in our Couch to Crocus 5K program. Over the 9 weeks the participants were helped achieve a new level of fitness that culminated in there completion of the St. Patricks Day 5k
MTRs win at Monaghan County Board awards night On Friday 13th 2015 Monaghan County Board held their awards night in The Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan. These awards were for athletic achievements throughout the year and some of our own members were present to collect their awards for the County road league. Congratulations to Breda McFadden on winning the Ladies 35/40 category and to Mark Macklin on winning the Mens over 50’s category. Second place awards also went to
Annual General Meeting Monaghan Town Runners AC Monaghan Town Runners AC AGM will be held on 19th January 2015 at 6:30 PM upstairs in The Squealing Pig Bar. There will be a standard order of business followed by election of club officials. Nomination forms will be available at training sessions.

WHAT A YEAR FOR MONAGHAN TOWN RUNNERS It’s been a terrific year for Monaghan Town Runners with many of our members pushing themselves to achieve their individual goals. Walls were passed, new heights (and highs) were reached and comfort zones were put aside. But it’s not just all about the running with MTRs. Monaghan Town Runners take on the Marathon challenge. As marathon season is upon us, MTRs are proud to announce that 23 of their brave members will be taking part in The Dublin City Marathon on 27th October 2014. To date already some of our members have jumped the gun on their club and taken part in marathons in Donegal, Berlin and Monaghan.
